A really REALLY old book

Okay, so this week we are analyzing a pre-1923 book (which the local resale shop considers *gasp* antique) using the same Voyant tools we did last week.

When I went to go pick out my book, I realized that besides shopping for textbooks--which I NEVER enjoy--I haven't been to pick out a book in probably 10 years. And that makes me feel old. Like the wrinkly grandma kind of old. *shudder*

First of all, why do they make bookshelves like double the height of the average person? No one can reach that high. Secondly, the covers they use nowadays are much more interesting than the covers from 100 years ago. I know they say not to judge a book by its cover, but I mean that's pretty much exactly what I was there to do.

The first pre-1923 book I found was a very cutesy little book... that was in French. Now I can understand a little French--je parle un petit francais--but not well enough to understand the Voyant tools. I finally found this cute little (because for some reason books varied in size--and maybe still do, like I said I don't typically shop for books) red covered book. I checked the date, and noticed it was called The World's 100 Best Short Stories. Score!

I get home Zach (my husband of almost 2 years) grabs the book. The following conversation ensues:

Z: "Why did you buy a SEX book?"
F: "What are you talking about, it's for my English class it's just a short story book."
Z: "...about romance." (said in such a way that you would think romance is disgusting)
F: "Well this is fine."

And guess what! It's not really raunchy at all. So one point for me.

So for those of you with a little curiosity in your bones, I'll link the text version of the intro cover, contents page, and the first snippet of one story HERE

This is what the Voyant tools spit out for that!
